The overarching aim of the Xiqu Center of Taiwan is to popularize all kinds of traditional performing arts, as well as to provide an important place for high quality experiences of the arts. A series of activities will be held in various parts of the center, such as the outdoor plaza, the traditional opera platform, and the basement of the Taiwan Music Institute. These activities include: A Glimpse into the Traditional Opera Wardrobe for Newcomers; Glove Puppet Workshop for Parents and Children; A Night of Traditional Opera Movies; Let’s Sing Taiwanese Opera Together; The Painted Faces of the Monkey King; Fair of Traditional Taiwanese Toys; Pastimes of the Old Days: An Exhibition of the Guqin, the Game of Go, Chinese Calligraphy, and Chinese Paintings; and Martial Arts in Traditional Opera. The center welcomes people of all ages and nationalities, art enthusiasts of all types, and residents from the local community to come and enjoy a truly immersive traditional opera experience.
